Bolero radio reception

Featured Replies

I have a 2015 Yeti SE TDI bought new in March 2015 but after a couple of months the bolero radio started loosing reception after a trip back to the dealer a faulty arial mount was diagnosed and replaced.

I am based in the West Midlands and recently made a few trips down to family in Essex on leaving the West Midlands area the radio starts loosing reception again I could understand if i was tuned to a local station and i was moving away but its tuned to radio 2.

The reception is so bad i have to turn it off as all you can hear is noise with the odd couple of words in between

I went back to the dealer again who are unable to find any faults even though I made a recording on my phone so they can hear how bad it is.

I wondered if anyone had encountered any similar problems as with my previous Yeti i could go anywhere and the radio would just pick up on the next transmitter and never loose reception.

You say you were on Radio 2, was that a local to you or national frequency, and FM or DAB?

I listen to a few stations on DAB and some like Smooth are local but they also do a National frequency.

On DAB and FM I am very happy with the radio reception.

Its radio 2 on national frequency on FM the radio is set to automatic

so should pick up on next transmitter.

I could drive anywhere in my previous Yeti and signal would only fade if i was in snowdonia or similar area

I'm a truck driver and over the years driven all makes of truck around most of UK listening to radio 1 or 2 with local traffic information

and never lost reception only on one truck with a missing arial.

I quite often find that I'm listening to Radio 2 and lose reception (Yeti / Columbus). Switching radio channel and back again works.

Not how it should work I grant, but pretty simple to do.

I tried changing channels back and forth even when I've turned radio off as it's really distracting then back on later it still comes on the same with really bad reception.

When the reception gets bad ive tried the scan and it won't pick up radio 2 or 1 at all.

I think you can check from the Bolero whether both antenna are actually working.

I have problems because (I hope) I only have one antenna functional after I broke the pin in the centre of the connector on the circuit board!!!

I've checked the radio and both antenna are on.

My Bolero 2015 car occasionally loses signal without reason when listening to BBC Radio Cornwall (not due to frequency changes). It goes off, on, off and on again within a couple of seconds and then goes back to normal. I've realised this happens when the Bluetooth connected phone is struggling to establish a phone signal and put it down to the head unit struggling with the multi-tasking.

I took delivery of my previous Yeti in November 2010 with Bolero radio without Bluetooth

My present Yeti i took delivery in March 2015 Bolero with Bluetooth the thing they both have in common is that within a few minutes of the radio being on they loose reception for a second or two with another station coming through but after that would be fine.

Not really caused any problem just put it down to a characteristic of the Bolero radio
