Fabia vRS special edition

Featured Replies

Just been to the stealers to view the new octy vRS, Looks the muts nuts in black  , not doing any test drives till january :thumbdwn: (so demonstrator will be a 06 registered car). ANy way back to thread, told them the Octy would come later to replace wifes L&K but I was interseted in a Fabia, got talking and stealer said that leather was on way as an option( but in meantime if required they could have it done for a grand at seat surgeons, mark up or what!) Also said leather would be standard if rumours correct about a special edition with 150 or 170 bhp, could not give any firm dates or prices (did mention

Uprated engine is news to me. As for leather; it is going to be an option and the dealer is still offering leather from Seat Surgeons at £900. Can be got cheaper if you go direct to them.

I suppose its a case of "Watch this space"!

sounds like BS to me, they would need to uprate to suspension, brakes, intercooler, turbo etc etc so the price would rocket up. not so much of a temptation then really

But then on the other hand don't seat use a 170bhp deisal unit so maybe not that far fetched, and stealer wouldn't mention it if he thought it would loose him sale of a vRS threw waiting for something non existant?

nope they use a 160, and that costs about 2 grand more than the 130 :)

so your looking at a cost of about 15k for a car that would be slower than a standard octavia vRS which you could buy for about 12k or so.

i personally don't think it would sell that well

You know, VW did come out with the new Polo GTi which has 150bhp in a turbocharged 1.8 litre engine. Just read it in CAR Middle East yesterday. 0-62 in 8.2 seconds and 134mph.

If they've stuck it in the Polo, what makes you think they will not stick it in the Fabia for an all new Fabia vRS petrol-version?

Doubt that a 170bhp furby would be slower than a mk 1 octy vRS, depends on gearing but my old vRS was only pulling around 18-1900 revs at 70 mph if I remember correctly, ( Stand to be beaten up and corrected on that one) not to mention the rumours of a deisal NEW octy vrs mentioned 170 bhp, that would probably be dearer than petrol (17.5 K) and slower than a furby with same engine gearing??????????

Cant see them putting the 2.0 TDI PD170 in the Furby.... new engine, old car, dont think its going to happen. Same for the 1.8T, I dont think the Furby is seen as that kind of car by Skoda. The diesel engine suits the "budget" designation of the car.

pat i was working on the figures of the ibiza cupra PD160 that does 0-60 in 7.6seconds and weighs 140Kg less than a fabia vRS :)

:orb_sick: my brain is starting to hurt, only saying what dealer talked about this morning: probably in the same category as the talk of a 2.0l 4x4 wrc furby from mags last spring,ie brown and smelly and lives in fields:orb_upset . Would be nice tho, probably too dear, way dealer was talking it was to be a run out model before new furby???????? or is that opening another bag of worms?

I seem to recall a number of people reporting comments from the dealers that when the facelift happened (Autumn 2004) the engine would be replaced with the 140BHP 2 litre. It didn't happen then and I'm doubtful it will happen before the Fabia is replaced. Perhaps he's heard rumours of the next generation Fabia vRS and has misunderstood.

or maybe he was asleep?

Mil, that engine has been available is the Seat Ibiza for years (the Polo, Ibiza and Fabia are very close sisters - all of them have a sporty 130PD variant), as has the more powerful 180bhp version. The Fabia has been out longer, and still no talk of a petrol 1.8T vRS over here. With a new model out in 2007, can't see a petrol version happening.
