From my understanding of all this Jason, it's a lot more complicated than just the Ghz measurement -- the one thing that seems to be agreed on these days is that you get more bang for your buck from AMD

The thing to remember with AMD is that there numbering sequence for the A64 chips is the equivelant of the P4 -- so an A64 3700 would be the equivelant of a P4 3.7Ghz(if such a chip existed) even tho the AMD's official Ghz speed is lower, this is achieved by combining some items like the memory controller onto the CPU itself rather than being a seperate chip on the motherboard -- being part of the chip allows much faster data transmission and speed.
