Does anyone know what the little black box is ! that's bolted to the bulk head which has al the air pipes / vacuum pips connected to thanks.

It's the vacuum control box, it controls the likes of egr, turbo, asv etc.

Cheers do u no if that's suppose to make a noise when the cars running.

Sometimes they buzz, it's usually just an annoyance.

Is it noisy just after switching off the ignition?

No noisey all the time until a take a vacuum pipe off either the turbo or the black ball behind the dip stick shuts it up

Sounds like its faulty as it should be quiet. I replaced mine recently as you can get used ones on eBay for around £30 and its 5 minute job to replace.

Just an up date.

Right got this loud hissing noise don't no if it's blowing or sucking gets louder when driving faster.

Goes underneath looking for this noise (CANT) pinpoint it so a pulled the vacuum pipe off the turbo.

The hissing noise goes stops put the pipe back on noise comes back.

Could the diaphragm be at fault not holding the pressure inside so am losing boost pressure am just quessing here.

This loud noise that sounds like a blown exhaust is seriously doing me head in.

Also is there a serton way the metal round gasket between the exhaust and turbo goes.

Cheers

all I know is its something to do with the EGR, allegadely its not the brain of the computer it controls the vacuum. mine went wrong earlier this year and the engine management light came on.

however I'm crap at cars, all I remember is that I thought it was the brain of the computer and was told by one of the many mechanics ive been through in the last 6 weeks before selling my car, I was told the brain was in a silver box built in the car elsewhere and that just controlled the vacuums.

hoping somebody else can help further. taxilady, cumbria x
