Rear misting again

Featured Replies

Well after having the turbo replaced recently noticed yesterday after a fairly long drive gave the car a quick acceleration and a large plume of mist from the rear, checked coolant today and it close to the min. Hoping I don't have another issue, calling dealer in the morning........

Not good, my MY16 seems to have lost coolant after just 2200 miles, no mist though.

Hope it's nothing serious!

Is that 2200 miles from brand new?

Yes, I'm thinking it needs to be booked in although when my last VRS had the same issue they said it was normal and to just keep topping it up

It's normal for the coolant level to drop over the first few miles of a new engine (or coolant renewal), this is because you get air bubbles in the system which only get worked out over time as the engine's used.

Personally I wouldn't worry just yet; just top it up with the correct coolant (or be cheeky and try to get the dealer to top it up for free :nerd: ) and see how it goes. If it continiues to drop again then maybe worth getting it looked at.

Thanks, that's really reassuring :)

As for the OP... that doesn't sound good, but hopefully the dealler can/will get it sorted pronto for you!

I had an issue on my gtd upon parking on a gradient where air bubbles in the cooling system were worked out with no problems in the 2 years since. It may be nothing to worry about.

Already had the turbo replaced due to coolant leak, just waiting for a date when they can have it for a few days with a replacement car.
