Ex Fabia VRS and Oil

Featured Replies

I was in my local Skoda Dealership today getting my mother’s Fabia serviced. I know the service team fairly well and while I was there they asked me about my Fabia and if I had any issues with oil. They had no recorded problems on their system.

Now I never had an issue with oil but would check and top up if needed.

The new owner has had the car back to the dealers 4 times claiming its using 1 litre every 500 miles or so.

I think I used about 1 litre per 6000 miles.  That was mainly city driving to and from work and the weekly 100-mile motorway trip.

At weekends I would give it a good blast.

Given I knew the car inside out and it was a good one I can’t believe an oil issue would appear like that overnight.  Could be wrong.

I wondered if it could be down to driving style? Not letting the car get warm and thrashing it… Or Perhaps they have just been reading about the oil issues to trying for compensation of some sort.

I did say I was going to pop back in to find out the outcome but it just niggles me because it was my pride and joy.

I definitely think driving style / types of journey undertaken can impact oil usage. Mine uses a little bit of oil on short journeys but doesn't use anything on long motorway trips.

You never know if the new owner is overfilling or what is going on.

I done mostly short journeys and some long on my first engine and it used 500ml of oil every 600 miles. Same journeys on new engine uses no oil!
