Coolant level 2010 mk2

Featured Replies

I bought a Skoda superb a couple of weeks ago.  I noticed after a week driving that the coolant level was just above the minimum mark.  I filled it up to the halfway join of the expansion tank and after a week or so have distance driving it had dropped a centimeter or so.  The garage I bought it from gave a 3 month warranty but the mechanic they use cant find a problem.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Has it recently had the timing belt/water pump replaced? (Due last year!). It is common for the coolant level to need a couple of top-ups after the water pump has been replaced as the bubbles/air locks sort themselves out. Should all be sorted after a couple of trips though. If it's gone on for some time then it will need further investigation.

Will need pressure tested any competent mechanic would know this.

Also when i got mine it was low on coolant from the dealers after a service.
Filled to the mark then late retopped up and now all good..
Maybe yours will be the same after second top up...

It has been done but it was a while ago.  I will check to see how long ago.

Diesel or petrol? You mention timing belt so I'm thinking diesel? Cracked expansion tank (underside of plastic bit) possibly?

I'm planning on getting my trusted mechanic to have a look, unfortunately he's on holiday this week.
