Hopefully I got the thread in the right place.

 

I am wondering if anyone here has installed any kind of door edge protectors.  I am kinda keen on buying some, I have small kids and stuff (plus on my old car I occasionally hit the doors on the wall of my parking place).

 

There is different styles on ebay - one is the strip that you cut at required length and slide into the edge of the door, the other is the 3M stickers (around 10cm long).

 

So, first, how ugly do they look (my Octavia is dark grey)?

How well do they protect?

Do they cause any (serious) damage to the paint?

 

What type do you suggest?

rather than putting something on my car I would prefer to stick something on the garage wall that would cushion the car door if I opened it too far. Only needs to be 25mm thick, about 300mm wide and 300 mm deep. Some sort of foam would do. Anyone know where you can get something like this without spending a fortune?

I bought these from Aldi when they were doing a "car special"....excellent. Similar stuff on Amazon, but much pricier.

I have some options:

strip that slides into the edge of the doors.  You can cut to any required length.

The other day I saw an auction for a clear thin sticker, but I cannot find it now.

 

 

The problem with protecting the garage is that the risk of scratching the door remains everywhere else but my garage!!  Though there is a concrete column I HAVE to cover with some fluffy stuff.
