Right folks, I'm in the market for a tow-bar, preferably with 12 pin electrics ... What is recommended nowadays ?

I fitted the last one myself (when I had a Citroen) but from what I've seen it's a bit different on the Octavia, requiring the rear bumper to be removed ? Are there any options where the bumper doesn't need to be removed ?

If it's a big / complicated job then it may be one that I have to seek advice from a professional for once ..

Get your self a removable towbar.
Fairly sure mines got a witter bar on it.
 

I had a Witter detachable swan neck on my MkII Scout...

 

 

 

 

Fitted men earlier this year using Westfalia detachable towbar and dedicated electrics whch is the same kit as installed by VAG. Removing the bumper and fitting the actual towbar is pretty straight forward. The dedicated electrics straight forward until you get to fuse box and CAN Bus connections. Read the instructions carefully and take your time and it makes sense.

The towbar and electrics are working at this point but if you have the electrics enabled by VCDS then it will show a diagram of the car and trailer when you select reverse whilst disabling the rear PDC. It will also extend the alarm to towbar socket. If the trailer is disconnected with the car locked it will trigger the alarm.
