Can anyone help me with the service intervals for my Skoda?

Featured Replies

I’ve just bought the car and I’m booking it in for a service at my local main agents. What is normally done at the second service compared to the third service for a skoda fabia?

I'm told my car is on 'flexible service intervals' and is a 63 plate 1.2 105tsi.

Many Thanks

If you are on flexible there isn't much difference on the service (mileage dependant).

With our Octavia 1.2tsi on variable service (every 18000 miles /12 months or so) 1st and 2nd service were just expensive oil/oil filter changes. 3rd service included spark plugs, air and pollen filter.

Supposedly the worksheet is printed by the Skoda computer dependent on your mileage/time and previous service history, so its not set in stone. The computer may decide you need something else doing too or something might not need changing. Its a bit like wheel of fortune.....

I don't care what any manufacturer says about service mileage. I make sure that mine never go over a year or 10,000 miles between servicing. Manufacturers do get it wrong from time to time like Vauxhall when they moved the Ecotec engine from 80k to 100k for timing belts. When everyone's engines started to go bang in spectacular fashion they had to reverse their decision! I would never let a car of mine go as far as Peugeot / Citroen said at one point, which was 20k or two years! If you want to keep a healthy engine bring the oil changes forward. It also depends entirely on how the car is used. Regular long trips or short trips for instance will make a difference to when it should really be changed.

This must be a "time of sale" kind of thing, I'm sure that my wife's Aug 15 Polo 1.2TSI is on fixed time/miles servicing, which is okay with me.

It seems strange that across the VAG marques, the "time of sale" introduction of variable servicing was different, and maybe the "time of sale" of going back to only fixed servicing was different - for the same engines!

I know that in mid 2000 -  VW Passats were sold with fixed time/miles servicing, late 2002 - VW Polos were sold with variable time/miles servicing, late 2009 - SEAT Ibizas were sold with fixed time/miles servicing, early 2011 - Audi S4 was sold with variable servicing, though I take care of the "inbetween" oil and filter change.

Edit:- just one thing, where I've had a VAG car that could be serviced by either long or fixed servicing, the owner's handbook does suggest which version of servicing is most appropriate for the way the car is being used.
