After market paint protection

Featured Replies

We're all aware of the paint protection offered by eager sales peeps, the likes of Autoglym and Diamondbrite......

So, question is, when detailing a vehicle treated with such a product what problems are encountered, if any?

Would a machine polisher (DA) remove this layer of protection or is the idea you shouldn't be affected by swirling etc because of said protection?

My cousin got Diamond brite on a Seat Ibiza brand new. Told him not to bother but as most he didn't listen.. paid £250 for it doing. Came to see me 2 weeks later & there was no protection evident at all.

It's a complete waste of money and doesn't last. One wash without the products to try and keep the protection working and it's stripped. Obviously it's not applied properly either given dealerships give around 30/40 minutes to apply it.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Once the full decontamination has been carried out chances are they'll be nothing left.

A DA would almost certainly remove the protection.

And as Karl says if your detailing then most likely the decon products would strip it too.

At least if you do the detail then you can cleanse the paint, apply some protection (then you know it's done properly), then maintain/ reapply as you see fit.

Thanks guys for taking time out to reply.....my girlfriend's car had Diamindbrite applied when she bought it....if I'd have been with her at the time I'd have said save your money....she's also been through the local brick acid car wash many times so that'll definitely have stripped it! I just wondered how resilient the products were. Question answered, thanks!!!!!
