I'm AlmostUseful, Pleasure to meet you.

Been lurking for a while looking at Octavias and Superbs as I'm in the marvellous position of being recently entitled to a company car.

I've been a bit sceptical of whether it's worth it having had a bmw 330D for nearly 4 years, but although I can't afford an equivalent I think I'll be more than happy with my choice.

I'm going with a Superb SEL Executive estate, with the 150 Diesel engine and a manual box. Was convinced I needed a dsg until I remembered I had a C6 model Audi A6 a while back with a manual 'box and the same engine for 50k miles so I figured I'll manage without the auto and have a load of extras too.

It's not ordered yet (I can't decide on the colour) but I'm expecting to go for rear blinds, interior leds, towbar and rear camera.

Probably going to go with business grey and some Pegasus wheels but I saw a quartz grey one at my local dealership today so in still unsure.

Looking forward to posting some photos when it arrives in about 4 months time.

Welcome to the site. I'm sure you'll enjoy the Superb when you get it, but doesn't a luxury saloon like this really cry out for the auto rather than manual? My A6 tiptronic was a great combination and my main car ever since has had an auto/DSG as an essential.

Hi there and welcome! Nice choice with the Superb :) I agree with Pilotguy - I'd take a DSG minus a few extras assuming that works okay for you from a tax point of view. Good luck with the new car and hope you can decide on a colour soon!

I must admit I really do want the DSG, but I've been hankering for a towbar and the tax implication puts it up by £15 a month.

Majority of my driving is motorway so manual is fine, but trust me if I had the choice I'd be loading it up with options as well as DSG! Regrettably our firm use some less than ideal brokers, the most recent quote I got for the car was £22 a month more expensive than direct from skoda!
