Dual climate - cold on passenger side

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I've got a 2009 Octavia. Recently, it has started blowing cold air out of all the the passenger side vents regardless of what setting it's on apart from the red "heat" setting which seems to force it to blow warm air at full blast. I.e. On a cold day, it blows cold air out of the passenger side even though it's set to 26C whilst the driver side blows warm air when set to 20C. The only way to get warm air out is to go to the red dot.

I've taken the top box out and the temperature sensors both look to be in place in the ducts but is there another sensor that is checking the cabin temperature? No fault codes are showing when I plug in my OBD reader.

My suspicion would be the vent temperature sensor in the near side dash vent tubing. Had them go on both my Octavias. Part is cheap but a lot of the dash has to come out to replace it so labour is the big cost. Would expect it to throw a fault code though.

Worth trying a flap reset before pulling things apart.

Cheers guys. Is that the one under the top box Sarge? It doesn't seem too bad to get to so I guess there is another!

No, I'm afraid it's not as easy as under the top box and is in the vent ducting on the near side. I had the garage do the work so I don't have personal experience of the location but I did find an online diagram somewhere which showed the location.
