Cloned Win10 to an SSD and now my printer no longer works

Featured Replies

So finally got round to cloning my WIN10 installation to a SSD. Every thing works except my Dell 1320c Laser Printer. I should point out that the printer works perfectly when connected to my other PC so it is not a printer problem, and I am using the same USB cable.

It did work before the clone, and I can still print to a Cannon MX535 wirelessly. The Dell is USB.  If I try and print from Word (or any other prog) the little print icons go through their normal cycling correction - if I have the print queue on screen the print job appears in the queue for an instant and then vanishes.

Have tried deleting the printer and reinstalling with Dells latest Win10  drivers but still no printing - troubleshoot shows no problems and the printer appears in the printer list and Win10 Device Manager says it is working perfectly - but it isn't.

Anyone got any ideas.

It's drivers - my Dell 1250c has stopped working since the latest update. I doubt Dell will update the drivers now, so I'm hoping MS will sort their end...

I had to dump my old Samsung when I ****ed [typo but I'll leave it :D ] to W10. It worked fine but it was a real cludge to get it to work.

Stumped up for a big duplexing colour laser.

Uninstall then reboot and reinstall using compatiblity mode to see if that works. Can also try the same drivers again but using a different USB port.

Finally fixed it, could not uninstall as the S/W was locked to something so I had to rename all Dell files and reboot before I could remove them manually. cleaned the registry and reinstalled the Dell S/w and latest drivers - it works.  No idea why it should have stopped working after the Clone as it was working fine from the original boot disc but I guess that Windows for you.

Use win 8 drivers or win 7 drivers I am still using my very old Epsom RX520 Photo stylus, just had to reinstall the Epsom scan software as it has loads of options as a standalone package which windows10 does not do.
