Audi A5 Winters on vRS230 - Just for the Crac!

Featured Replies

I knew this was never going to be realistic possibility, but I thought I'd try my Audi A5 winters (225/50 x 17" on 7.5J ET28 offeset wheel with 66.6 bore) on my vRS230 (Standard 225/35 x 19" on a 7.5J ET51 offset wheel with 57.1 bore) just for the crac.

The bore issue could have been overcome with decent spigot rings but a 23mm in offset difference was always going to an issue. It is possible to skim the wheels to improve the offset difference but you'd probably only be able to safely take 5/6mm off. Even then i'm sure the insurance company would object if there was a chance to avoid paying out on a claim. They prefer wheels and tyres of exactly the same size/profile as fitted by manufacturer, the profile would have changed speedo readings a little too.

Therefore the Audi winters (6 of the b***ers) will need to be sold and I'll make a decision whether to buy some nice black Turini's for the winter (Change in circumstances means that daily travel may not be essential this year).

Anyway here's some pics to prove it.

Roll the arches or be bold and fabricate some spats

Reminds me of Carlos Fandango:

ET28 ha ha.. yep miles out. Get some "scout" springs on there it'd be one tough looking offroader :)

Don't sell the audi winters now though, no-one will be looking in June - hang on to them until we get the first cold weather, should get a lot more for them.

Thanks, good advice. Just need to tell my wife that she's not getting the garage space back yet
