Brake pads

Featured Replies

Hi peeps. As the title suggests im looking to change my now 32K old brake pads on the fabia. 312mm upograde is not an option as insurnce company have finally said no to something! BRAKES!!! OF ALL THINGS!!!???

So does anyone have any reccomendations?

I have heard EBC good and bad reviews. Ferrodo? Pagid fast road pads??? Im in a minefield here guys....no idea whats good etc. ANY GUIDANCE is massively appreciated!!!

Cheers

Alex

That seams so stupid?? Break upgrades surely will make the car less likely to rear end someone and therefor should lower an insurance premium. I was wondering just that very thing the other night but you've just answered it for me. I Cant see the logic tho.

ferodo DS2500

Fast road pads heat brakes a lot quicker, you'll need to upgrade the fluid as well. Just get OEM pads and upgrade the fluid.

Thanks for that. With the fluid/brakes is there anything in particular i should look out for?

Any reccomendations for fluid etc?

Is it something i could do myself or reccomend a garage to do it?

Computer says no.

30 mins on the phone to someone that had to keep checking with there manager then.......drum roll.....er sorry sir no we cant allow the bigger brakes on the car.

"oh so you dont alow the improvement of a cars stopping distance and general control under your regime?"

"no"

My only guess is that it's because it'll be more likely that someone tailgating you will run into the back of you?

I was thinking......would ESP on my new VRS Fabia reduce the cost of my insurance?

Seen as it has been proven to reduce the likely hood and reduce the seriousness of an accident. Something like 30% of all accidents wouldn't occur if all cars had ESP.

So my car will have ESP so reduce my insurance!!!!

Insurance companies are there to just screw us all. What has the world come to!

so any recommenedations peeps?

I think the logic is that with better brakes you can (and will) push the car harder and faster. Whilst I might not agree with it I can to a degree understand their argument.
