drivers side electric window problem

Featured Replies

There is a problem with the drivers side (R/H) electric window on my 2008 Roomster 1.4, the passenger side (L/H) window operates perfectly, the window on the drivers side opens & closes using the door lock key, it will not open or close using the door mounted switch. If the window is opened using the door lock key, it will close using the door mounted switch if the switch is in either the close or open position.

I have fitted a new door mounted switch; the problem is the same with both the old & new switch.

Any ideas would be appreciated

check wiring between A post and door.

Mine was caused by the door wiring loom, broken wires in-between the A Post and Door as said earlier.  You need to look at the wiring in the black rectangular cable gaiter between door and car body. The Gaiter is held onto the car body by a plastic clip at the top. Press down a bit bang in the middle of the top of the rubber gaiter where it attaches to the car. The gaiter should then come away from the top. Don't press down too hard as the clip will snap.

All my electric windows failed from all 4 switches, but the fronts did open via the key in door method as you say. I fitted a new drivers door loom and everything is working again. I smeared a load of Vaseline all over the gaiter covered cables on the replacement loom, I'm not sure if that will help in future or not but can't see it causing any harm.
