Well well well well; (new motor content)

- being retired apparently wasnt my cup of tea.

After a 2 month long vacation and three long dove-feeding days I started doing same old job again but as part-time and at a new (and better!!!) employer.

So, urgently seing the need for a second car I today signed a contract on private leasing for an Ibiza with the new 4 cyl (according to the contract at least) 999 cc motor, 160 Nm, 95 hp and 5 gears. AC, DC, you name it, exept an armrest front. Buggers.

That will cost about €180 a month during three years, including insurance, service and so on, but I´ll be compensated for miles in duty. That will be even, if including fuel costs.

Ive had a VW Passat 2.0 TDi 4-track DSG & all for a week from my employer and absolutely hate that gearbox. For your information only :)

I'll have the car tuesday and will give a report on the motor quite soon as I have a 1000 km drive to to tuesday-wednesday.

Sorry its not a Skoda, but the Seat-leasing for some incomprehensible reason are cheaper.

I reckon it takes more than a week to really appreciate the DSG gearbox; particularly if you approach it with a negative attitude from the beginning.

No; I've had them before on various vehicles of the VW-breed. Loosing control.

Granny boxes they are.

 - seems like Im not the only one to have views on that gearbox. At least with the 999cc motor: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/volkswagen/volkswagen-golf-10-tsi-bluemotion-review/  :D

Sounds like you are against all auto boxes, not just the DSG.  That report just seems to express the opinion that the 1.0 litre engine is not a good match to the DSG.

I partially agree with your comment of lost control with a DSG; which is why I won't have a car with DSG unless it also has the steering wheel 'paddles'.
