Thinking of buying 2012 vrs. Hows the DSG on late 2012?

Featured Replies

Hi, im thinking of buying a later 2012 vrs estate. Its done 35k miles

I test drove it and it seemed ok however im concerned about the recall of dsg

If the dsg has been running on synthetic for 35ks then will any damage have been done?

Thanks

Christian

The DSG should not be an issue if it is performing well now.

Take for a good long run and see how it does in all modes, then how it is going slow after at least 20 miles.

Crawling along in 2nd, dropping to 1st as you stop. starting off again.

*As it is a road test needs to be more than 10 miles anyway to have the engine oil up to a good temp and then see

how the engine is, and boot it and see how it performs, any misfires or the likes.*

Not only vRS 2010-2012 (CAVE engine cars) might have a DQ200 DSG with Synthetic oil, & many have mineral oil

and have from new.

The service campaign includes 2012 on CTHE Engine cars.

Check if the car has had or needed the Oil change and Software Update done,

it might not of needed it.

Go by how the car goes now, check Warranty Work, maybe a CAVE engine vRS has by now had new clutch packs.

Maybe a new gearbox, but the same can be true of a DSG in any car, not only vRS Fabias.

?

Have you checked the service history of the car,

and warranty work carried out if any, breather mod or software update done under warranty, and Oil Consumption tests carried out.

Have the spark plugs been changed?

Be sure to budget for buying a Skoda Warranty to cover you for 12 months,

after the Warranty with the car expires if you get a decent one, or from the very begging of ownership.
