Products for Matt Finish

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone can help me. I recenlty had my alloys refurbished and these now have the Matt Finish...The guy told me that I should not be using any normal products on these so can you please recommend me:

1. Products to Clean them. Can I use normal non ACID wheel cleaner...?

2. Products to Protect the wheels.

3. Something grease free to dress the tyres so I can avoid leaving nasty grease stains on the wheels.

Photos showing the colour and finish attached

Many thanks in advance :)

Matty

Following this thread with interest - only ever helped a mate do matt finish wheels once.

I used a simple and gentle routine - but wondered what better products i could have used.

On the day - i cleaned the wheels with a typical APC, then fall out removed (CarPro Iron-X);

then clayed to remove stubborn contaminants and finally sealed with Sonax BSD.

Not saying this was the best method - but what i was comfortable using at the time.

I did also find the matt finish was extremely prone to really showing up water-spotting;

so perhaps a water filtration vessel would be useful if you detail regularly.

Great advice above there. I would consider looking at the Krystal Kleen Detail Matte Range maybe. Worth doing some decent research on it though to save yourself a headache in the long run. Keep us posted. Interested in what you decide to go with!

Another idea - would be to contact Andy at Clean Your Ride.

He will probably suggest an ideal set of samples for matt finish.

A good and cheap way to trial some ideas and find what works for you.

If you contact Andy via email or Facebook - let him know i sent you... :thumbup:

^^ Again, cracking advice. 100% worth contacting Andy.

He will reply, he's a great guy to deal with. Both myself & Stephen have had chats with him in the past and Stephen has had half of his stock too! Hahaha ;)

Quite a busy bloke but will take the time to reply to you! :)
