aftermarket stereo fitting

Featured Replies

I finally got round to fitting the Alpine CD player from my Audi into the Fabia.

I have a problem tho.

Everything works fine but the lights don't switch off on the cd player

i have no instructions for the Alpine i woulda thought the fabia would be same as the Audi but obviously not

any ideas?

u have probably fitted the permanent live wire from the battery (red) into the backlight illumination lead on the headunit (orange)

connect the dual red connectors from the ISO plug into the red and yellow connectors of the headunit, so you can listen to the stereo whilst the key isnt in the ignition.

Hope this helps mate.

just the lights in the buttons

the lcd display turns off as does the sound

sounds as though the illumination wire is connected to a permenant live - i just have constant live / switched live and earth connected on mine

I had this problem with an Alpine unit. The unit will consistently drain power from your battery, and if left a few days, it will go flat. Even though I seemed to have everything connected up correctly, it still stayed on. Had it checked by the Skoda garage, and made a few calls to Alpine. It is a known Alpine-Fabia issue, apparently. I sold the stereo.
