Recommend me a car £5000

Featured Replies

Hi all

I do 10-12k miles a year 50/50 split motorway and city driving.

Currently drive an 05 1.3 cdti corsa.

I have a,budget around £5000. Want something nippy but fairly frugal. Happily to spend more than I do now on fuel but not outrageously more.

Was looking at 2010 fiesta zetec s 1.6 petrol, also 2008 focus titanium 2.0 cdti.

Can anyone offer any suggestions

5200 for a 10 year old fabia seems excessive. I've seen same age vrs for 3000 with 90000 miles

Mazda is lovely but would be concerned with only 25mpg urban with the city driving I do

Not discarding It tho

Yeah I hear you the road tax for that one is pretty steep as well. What about the 1.6 £145 road tax and 34.0 urban. This one looks nice.

So you're saying the same age VRS with 90,000 miles for £2000 less is the same as a one owner example with full service history, 30,000 miles and mint condition, not sure what your point is?

By your logic let me know if you ever want to buy a car ;)

Come on though, 5200 for a 10 year old fabia really?I appreciate it's low mileage and in great nick but seems steep for a 10 year old 1.9 lump.

Don't mean to offend, I'm a big fan of the 130 1.9 tdi but wouldn't be prepared to pay 2000 extra for a low mileage example when she year car with 80000 miles would be fine. I've seen these engines so over 150k. I think something else would write the car off before the engine did

Was looking for something nipper than a 1.6 mazda 0-60 time of 12.2 seconds. Ideally sub 10 second 0-60

Ibiza FR TSI 1.4?

Suzuki Swift Sport?

I have thought about a swift sport but there are really small and don't want to come across as a hairdresser

I like the ibiza fr tsi but for the extra 500-1000 you can get a golf tsi

There you go.

You already know a Golf is the best used buy out there.

A used Ibiza FR will have rock hard suspension, at least have been thrashed (if not crashed), and probably modded (badly).
