I recently bought an 03 1.6 classic, runs well the guy I bought it off put a replacement gearbox on it, he has a small garage & sells cars as a side line. My speedo, when it works is notchy or sticks at random speeds.past 2 weeks been stuck at 85mph? What does he need to do to make it work? He says he will put new clocks on? He doesn't have vag com in his garage, any advice would be great, no warning lights showing, cheers

I would try the transducer in the gearbox first, or find someone with VCDS to scan for faults first.
