superb/symphony code?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just bought a used superb, and the handbook doesn't have a radio code in it.

I *think* some HU's are coded, and other's aren't - this is a symphony model with a cassette head unit, and I suspect this one IS coded.

How much will Skoda charge me to get the code?

should be on the tag with your keys

Am I correct in thinking that the Radio doesn't need a code. The cars Computer system will "recognise" the Radio.......ie Only work in that Car??

You certainly are correct, it will recognise the original radio fitted in the car as it is coded to the ECU, but even still the code is on the plastic tag that comes with the keys. (4 digit code)

The moment will be noted in Briskoda History... perhaps it should even be made a sticky

this sounds good...but....going through the symphony advanced menu (hold TP down!) the code bit is set to "SAFE" which i think means active code.

haven't got any key info (came with master keys, plastic key and garage key but no tag) - if i were to do anything dumb like remove the power for a bit, is my radio likley to be knackered?

cheers guys!

ric

The code on the plastic key tag is actually your immobilizer code.

I've got lots of stickers on my grey tag... one of which is the radio code. Could this vairy between dealers perhaps and some stick them in other places

I don't think this is correct - it certainly did not recognise mine when I had the symphony refitted to my Superb. The only way to do it (according to dealer and Skoda) is to give dealer serial number of audio and reg number of car. You also have to provide proof of address.

The company that sold me the car (and had to refit the unit) had a lot of problems mainly because the prat that refitted it misread the serial number on the radio. Took ages to sort out.

When I put my symphony back in my old Octy to sell it, it came up with the SAFE logo. I thought the radio code was on the plastic tag but I was wrong and after checking with my local dealer they confirmed that it wasn't. I was told that a dealer has to send various bits of info, chassis number etc, to Skoda UK who then send the radio code back to the dealer (which apparently can take a week!!) One of the sales team did point out that there is a method where the radio can be found by the car, they thought it was something like holding down a certain key on the radio and then turning on the ignition but nobody could confirm exactly how to do it. Having got nowhere and totally out of the blue, 48 hours later my car found the radio and everything started working fine. Give yours a couple of days and it might just fix itself.

My superb was like it for 2 weeks and it didn't fix itself!
