1st is fine 2nd whines 3rd OK 4th crunchy 5th OK 6th wooly and crunchy. Would it be worth reconditioning the gearbox 112k miles 1 year old smf and high friction plates. It's either recon it or engine swap for a mad petrol engine and rw/4w conversion lol

Have you changed the gear box oil ever?

It might be enough to quieten things down.

 

I did approx 150k on mine with no issues once the initial DMF issues were sorted out.

Haven't got a clue how to.vet in there.... it was changed last year when converted to smf but I was told it's sealed for life. The leak tells a different story. I have a look and throw a few litres at it

Was the gearbox fine before SMF change?

I think so was a year ago now. Had play in a bearing apparently bmwas advised it's OK not urgent and now it is :-( found a vrs engine and box off an 08 is it same as the 07?

Thought they might of used non vag gear oil but it sounds like it had issues before.
