Thrust bearing

Featured Replies

Grateful for some advice. Got a 113,000 mile TDI 1.9 Elegance on 53 plate. In good nick but realistically probably worth no more than £500.  I think the thrust bearing is on the way out but is it worth getting it replaced given the value of the car. If I get it replaced I might as well have a new clutch too but it'll probably cost around £500.

That's a very low estimate on price of the car. I would have said around the £800-£1200 depending on mujaheddin and condition. As your is roughly what they say the average mileage per year is on, and you say in good condition. I would put it around the £1000 mark. The elegance had a good trim level from factory so that does it good in pricing. A clutch kit and more than likely DMF is going to be around £700-£900 depending on parts chosen and labour rate. So in my honest opinion I would have it done. I to have a 1.9tdi elegance on an 02 plate in estate form and love it.
