2013 VRS Xenon bulbs

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any instructions for changing these?

According to my local dealer it is a dealer only job but I have just has a second one go in the space of a week and have found the exact same bulb (they gace me the old blown one) for less half the dealer price (which is pretty eye watering...).

Thanks all and Hi

If you've not bought them then look at power bulbs website. Can get Osram Xenarc NightBreaker Unlimited for a good price. I got 2 D1S NBU for £100 delivered with a money off code.

Very happy with them and worth the money. Better than the stock Osram bulbs.

I would recommend changing them in pairs do you get even light output.

Only go for a Phillips, Osram (main brand) bulb. The others (eBay for example) are really hit and miss on quality and will frequently fail to ignite.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have a Philips bulb arriving tomorrow (identical to the factory one) and the other bulb was replaced by the dealer last week.

I did find a video guide for replacing a Mk II xenon bulb on youtube and it involves taking the headlight assembly out and was wondering if it is the same process for a Mk 3?  It looks as though there is probably enough room without going through the headlight removal faff.

you dont need to take the headlight out, you just screw off the lid and screw out the bulb. 5min job.

(at least on the normal non RS mk3)

Thanks a lot for that armada - saves a trip to the dealer and a lot of money :)

I had mine changed under warranty after one failed. These xenon bulbs are supposed to have 2,500 - 3,000 hrs life - sale of goods act is up to 6 years regardless of 3 year warranty!

On a 3 year old car this equates to 2.5 hours use every day of the cars life.
