What's it worth?

Featured Replies

So we're thinking of selling the Octavia as we want a convertible but don't need two cars so I need to get an idea of how much the Octavia is worth.

It's a 57 plate MY08 model 1.9 DSG Elegance with around 64,000 miles on it.

It's got service history but I started doing DIY servicing a couple of years ago which is what is throwing me off slightly. Does this affect the value? Or should it not matter (which is what I think).

Looking at selling privately.

It will have 12 months MOT when sold. Recently had new discs and pads front and back. 4 new tyres (goodyear efficient grip performance). No significant marks or scratches to speak of just the usual stone chip hear and there.

Also do I sell with or without the Columbus and Bluetooth? I'm thinking I should maybe offer two prices with and without it?

Much appreciated.

When I sold my old Fabia, I clearly stated on the advert that I had done the servicing myself over the last few years, and had all of the receipts to prove that the right oil had gone into the car, and servicing had been more often than the stated book requirement, including regular filter changes etc.

I don't think it makes any difference on a car that is over 5, let alone 8 years old that it's been done DIY. If anything it shows you looking after the car more than just blindly handing it over to a garage and getting them to tell you what needs doing as it makes them £££.

What can you get for the Columbus and BT, maybe £450 together? I doubt having them fitted would command that much more of an asking price. Maybe it would make it easier to sell, but I doubt there would be much in it without it fitted and selling separately.

Thanks. Yes that was my thinking that the DIY servicing shows care has been taken and I know exactly what has been done. I have all the receipts etc.

And Yes I think around £400-450 for the Columbus and Bluetooth. I think you're right there that although it might make it easier to sell it doesn't add much to the value of the car. I still have the old Stream MP3 in the attic anyway.

Same goes for the Polar FIS+. I will sell that separately as again it doesn't add any value to the car just makes it more attractive to buyers.

If you put it on the forum with stuff included/excluded and two prices it will be appreciated. Most remove the Columbus and sell it separate anyway to recoup some money.

Hi Phil, sorry to change the subject slightly here but what Bluetooth kit have you got and would you consider selling it separately? I am literally in the process of upgrading my Stream to Columbus but haven't got a Bluetooth kit or coded it yet, I need to get my newer Canbus in first, cheers.
