Vrs bumper and DRls on elegance

Featured Replies

So as per my project thread, I've recently fitted a vrs front bumper to my Fabia elegance.

It came with standard fog lights that wired in no problem.

I've since purchased a pair of DRls from a vrs.

Now the problem starts, my elegance has two plugs, same as the Monte Carlo i think....

But none of them fit the DRls.

The DRLs have 3 pins and the two separate plugs have 2 pins each. I've checked and my car has the switch to enable them but from what I can tell, it doesn't do anything.

Is the switch fused? Sounds silly I know. But it might sound as though you need to source the 3 pin and do a bit of electrical DIY.

I think that's what's going to happen.

I've already orderd the correct plugs with wire attached so will wire them up myself.

The switch beside the fuse box will be wired from an ignition live, so soon as the ignition is on they will light up on the dim setting, but can be switched off via the proper switch if needed.

I'll put in the other wire from the factory fog light plugs so they work from the switch also, so will get brighter and work as factory fog lights.

So... Switch on beside fuse box =

Ignition on - lights up dim setting

Sidelights on - lights up dim setting

Headlights on - lights up dim setting

Fog lights on - lights up bright setting.

Switch off beside fuse box

Always off unless fog lights on then lights up bright setting

Sounds like you have a big job on. Make sure you get pictures plenty of pictures. I'd like to see this mate.

Have you checked with Brimma on this one? Pretty sure he went with the vRS DRLs, when he added the vRS bumper to his Elegance estate.

I hadn't checked with him no, hopefully he will come along and comment soon.

I think my plan will work anyway and will better than factory :)
