Headlamp cleaning

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Does anyone know if there is a way to limit the frequency at which the headlamp cleaning jets are engaged?

Currently, every time I enable the jets to clean the windshield it automatically also sprays the headlamps. Our Jaguar XF has a setting that changes this.

For example, you can limit it to once out or every 5 times the windscreen cleaning is activated.
I was not able to locate something similar on the Skoda. (2011 4x4 top model) Nor could I find something in VAGCOM.

Granted, it is not a huge deal, but it does cause me to go through a lot of fluid.

Any ideas?

My 2012 Elegance headlamp jets only operate every 5 times.  So sounds like there might be a setting somewhere, but I don't know where.

My 2014 Elegance (i.e. facelift) jets operate at the first windscreen wash and then every 10th wash (at least, it does according to the manual - I haven't counted yet!) provided the headlights are turned on or are on auto.

A little trick I found with the Mk2 superb was this: If your headlights are on and you want to wash the screen but not the lights themselves. I used to push the washer stalk away from me to the rear screen wipe position (not the rear screen wash position) and immediately pull it all the way towards me to the screen wash position. This prevented the headlight washers from working every time I did this.

It worked on the pre FL and FL Superbs.

That used to work on an Octavia I had before as well but obviously won't on a hatch Superb.  Mine operates every fifth time but also on every initial wash after the ignition has been switched on.  I'm sure it can varied with VCDS but never came across an obvious setting on the MFD.

I don't think it can be a driver adjustable setting, as it's a mandatory requirement with factory xenons - in the UK at least.

I know it can be altered with VCDS but I never bothered to look into it as I knew the little stalk trick worked.

It doesn't work on the Mk3 Superb.......cue miserable face...... :dull:

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will poke around in VCDS again when I get some free time.
