Niggling problems with Octavis 1.8T combo/estate

Featured Replies

Hi I have 2 problems with my Skoda 1.8T estate.

1. Have good to replace the rear high levEl brake light/windscreen washer as the jet has broken off and does not foray correctly. Anyone suggest the easiest way to fit this

2. My Octavis has the windiscreet wipers/computer stalk and for some reason the front wipers do not work every time. I have replaced the wiper arms as the garage thought it may have been that, however this has not cured the problem and now they think that the stalk switch may not be "contacting" properly and needs a new stalk..just been quoted £98 for a new one. Has anybody else haf this problem as got to do a 1200 mile round trip in about 8 weeks and need it working for then or does anyone now where I can get one at a reasonable price or failing that can make any suggestions what may be causing my problem

Thanks Mike

I think there is a how to guide on here for the washer jet replacement. It's not that difficult though. You remove the top trim on the inside of the tailgate, then you will see two or three white plastic clips sticking through the metal, you just need to push in both sides of the clip and it will pop through as they are spring loaded, then the lense just pulls out of the tailgate. The washer jet then is pushed into the lamp. The actual jet is available on its own from Skoda or your local TPS for about £5 iirc.

On the second item it could be the motor that's faulty which is more common than the stalk. I have both for sale if interested though. The stalk is £40 delivered (second hand, but fully working) the motor with linkages is £35 delivered (once again second hand, but fully working). PM me if interested?

2. Change your garage! The wiper mechanism on the Octy can stick (but if it does it will stick and just not wipe at all: This can be cured by dismantling, then cleaning and lubricating the pivots), but no way will replacing the arms cure that.

I'm not certain whether the issue is the stalk or the motor, but it wants diagnosis, not "I think it might be this" repair by buying random components!
