FYI: Found a maxidot!

Featured Replies

Apologies if this breaks rules or is in the wrong place - I'm not selling it myself, just spotted it whilst doing some searches.  Not the latest firmware, and has damage to the plastic outer, but it would be ideal for a retrofit if you resued your existing plastic cluster parts.

So, in case anyone is looking for one, I've found one that appears to be available: https://www.partsplanet.eu/en/catalogue/skoda-octavia-speedometer-instrument-panel-1z0-920-943-k-1z0920943k-b431_13753/

It's PN 1Z0920943K, 80 Euros.

Would be a idea to check it is a maxidot cluster as the facelift clusters look like that even if they dont have maxidot fitted. best to check with the seller before buying it.

I've checked the part number mate. Assuming the part number is correct, it's a maxidot on 04xx firmware.

Ah i see,i dont know enough about them, thanks for clearing that up.

Another one up on the bay. Same version as the other one in the OP.

They've declined my offers of £50 and £60, so I presume they'd want pretty much full asking price.  Was tempted to get it myself.

EDIT: Ignore. It's the same one!

Havent you already got one Haz? :)

Are you collecting them now?

They must not  have been able to move it on since August last year.

I do mate, but I browse now and again.  I'm not massively in a hurry to fit it, but I like to see if there are any newer, VRS styled ones, as the one I bought is non VRS and very old firmware.

I bought a VRS one for mine. Would bug me if I knew I had the wrong one fitted.

What's the difference between normal maxi dot and a vrs maxi dot?

It should just be the dial faces. It's entirely possible to switch them over from your existing vRS cluster if needed.

I hoped so too, but the RPM dials are different. For example, mine is 10,20,30... up to 80. Once above 80, the main ticks represent 20mph, so becomes 80,100,120.  So say you're accelerating linearly up to and beyond 80mph, the RPM needle would slow down. It appears that the non VRS is different. They're all evenly spaced out by 20mph and are in different positions.  I guess I'd need to recalibrate the needles to replicate the faces if possible?

I thought it was only the Superb that had a non linear speedo but yes, you're completely correct - I just checked the spare TDi vRS maxidot I have and it's the same.

It is possible to re-calibrate but you'll need to take the eeprom off to fix the speedo scale.

I have a 2006 1.9 PD105 L&K and the maxidot is numbered 0-80mph in increments of 10 and then 20.

Planehazza, just to let you know, picked one up on v6 software, for diesel, so redlines at 5000 and not 4500 as original, not necessarily relevant, in this case, however, importantly it was originally up for auction within a complete dashboard. When I questioned the seller about the part number on the rear of the cluster, he stated that it was not part of the sale! Still asked him for the part number and hey presto, was suitable for retrofit. Interestingly, it was advertised as a 2012 MK3!!! Maybe worth perusing said auction site using wider search parameters and making an enquiry of sellers directly as to the part numbers. Just a thought.
