Mounting extra lights- led bar

Featured Replies

im planning to mount extra lights, helle 200 or a ledbar from ebay.

Om earlier cars it has been easy to find out which wire to connect to, but in the octavia there is a plug to the ligts, and im not shure where i should plug in to get the signal feed to the relay.

i altso cant find a easy entery to coupe for the switch.

i used the search menu to see if i could find a "how to connect extra high beam lights" but couldnt find any.

Try a full web search for something like "installing auxiliary headlights with CANBus".

Just get a relay and draw power direct from battery as you probably don't want put anymore strain on your existing headlight loom. Best use the wire near the head light connector for the switched live. You should be able trace the wiring by using a multimeter as I'm using the side light wire for switching off my aftermarket DRLs.

I have been looking at using the removable lower grille trim as a location for some aux lights using some HID's.

My plan so far is use relays to tap into the switched live in the fuse box by the drivers side and fit a switch on the back of the indicator stalk

I think additional lights have to be mounted with their centres at least 600mm from the road surface for them to be legal to use in conjunction with headlights and in conditions other than fog, falling snow, etc. I suggest you read the relevant sections of the Construction and Use regulations to avoid falling foul of the law.

I don't think it's as much as 600 mm if it's DRLs. I have DRLs in those removable grills and they are road legal according to what I read at the time.
