Intermittent starting issues Octavia 2003

Featured Replies

HI,

Got a petrol 1.6 Octavia that is acting wierd.

At inregular intervals the power goes totaly off when i turn the key and it wont come on again. Clock and all.

To solve this i have tried different things and what seems to help is to remove the connectors to the battery and wait for 10 minutes.

Allso the blinker/signal is strange.
When blinking/singla to left the foglamp allso blinks, and if i use the brake at the same time the blinker goes bananas.

Any tips on my frankencar?

Electrical power dies you mean? Is the top of the battery case getting hot? Have you tried cleaning the battery terminal connections?

"Also the indicators are strange" - You have a bad earth connection for the lights at one or both (probably both) ends of the car on the left.

Update:

Blinkers was spot-on.

Found the earth/ground cable torn in the small compartment in the boot.
Repaired it and blinkers/brakelight/foglamp is all good.

Start-problems:

Removed connectors and cleaned then well. Same with poles on battery. Added copaslip on both. No problems so far.

Thanks for feedback.
