Ignition live (S Contact) not working?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I was working on my head unit wiring and I might have accidentally shorted the ACC wire to ground. Now, the stereo does not turn on with ignition, but works after plugging it to permanent 12V wire.

I heard a pop similar to the fuse blowing pop, but, fuse 37 (S Contact) is totally fine, as are all the others.

Does anyone have any idea what might have happened?

Many thanks.

Have you checked the radio fuse because if you have earthed out a live wire a fuse should blown. Because the car is right hand drive the fuse layout in the manual is a mirror image, so double check which fuse is the radio.

Forgot to mention, my car is left hand drive.

I replaced the radio fuse, no difference.

Has anyone fitted an inline fuse to the radio?

I think I should explain the situation a bit better. My head unit used to turn itself on when the key was put in ignition, and off when the key was removed.

When working on the wiring, I shorted the ignition live wire to ground, which should have blown a fuse.

However, all the fuses are fine. I have then connected the stereo to a permanent 12V wire to check if it still works. Surprisingly, it does.

This makes me think that the stereo does not detect the position of the ignition key anymore.

No, the stereo has its own fuse, which is fine as well.

did you check fuses on your battery (under the hood)?

also you should check the fuses under the your steering wheel column. I`ll attach the photo.
