Silicone Wiper Blades

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried them?.

Yes.

They do what are required of them.

You fit the correct size,

use only when there is liquid on the windscreen.

or even the rear screen.

Really work, on / off / on /off, intermittent or at what ever speed you need.

'THe do what they say in the sales stuff / adverts / packaging.'

PIAA ones.

I wonder if they're less likely to judder.

I wonder if they're less likely to judder.

Judder is normally a symptom of a dry and/or very clean (recently treated with precipitated chalk) windscreen.

I think they're probably not well suited for use on cars with "programmed wash-wipe" as a means of cleaning fly squashes and/or bird mess.

We have a serious issue with bugs, particularly in summer and I've never even attempted to use the wipers to clear them - it simply ends up a smeared mess.

That's a regional thing; the things that "splat" in Europe are usually housefly (Musca domestica) size or larger.

@offski I once put PIAA silicone blades on my previously owned Smart car. LOVED them, it's was like self applying rain-x and they lasted years (2-3years) and were still going strong when I sold it. These days I own a Volvo v60 and a Skoda Citigo.

My question is your experience with fitment. Are they quite universal with a range of fitting connectors. The si-tech ones seem to be scarce as hens teeth online but I've found a retailer now that has stock, but just hesitant to order 4 blades when not 100% guaranteed they'll fit. (Also packaging probably melt sealed so I'll never know without busting open a pack).

Thanks in advance!!!
