Need to buy a heater blower. How do i know if my car has manual or automatic climate control?

Featured Replies

Hi,

First time ive posted on here so hopefully that means i get away with asking a stupid question! My heater blower stopped working so i looked on here and found an excellent thread about this from 2010 from which i found out that a)this is a common issue and b)a new part is easy to fit. So i went on eurocarparts and found that there were 4 options...2 for cars with manual climate control and 2 for cars with automatic climate control. I bought my car 2nd hand and i have no idea which type of climate control my car has...how do i tell?? My controls have 2 manual dials for temperature control and a plus/minus function for controlling the blower with about 5 green lights above it. Also, eurocarparts give me the option to buy a valeo unit or a cheaper option...are the cheaper option ones just as good or am i as well to shell out for the name brand? Any help for the noob would be much appreciated!!

Climate control, or 'Climatronic'...

Do a test on the motor with a direct power supply. It could just be the resistor that's attached to the motor. Quite a common fault with that motor set up.

Thanks for your help, both of you! The controls in my car are slightly different to the ones in the first picture, but close enough that i get the idea. I'll strip the blower out and test it before i buy anything.
