I am needing to replace the gear cables and linkages on my 2004 Mk1 Octavia 1.9 TDI ambiente.  I have managed to come across Mk2 Gear selector and cables being sold from breakers but does anyone know if the cables and linkages are compatible with Mk1 Octavias?

iffy, as it all depends the gear box you have and the car it came off which gear box that had.

I'm pretty sure that Mk2 cables are different to Mk1 cables. I do have a set of Mk1 gear shift cables that I was going to replace and ugrade the bushes in. I would be willing to sell and ship though if needed?
