Wardy's Fabia vRS Mk2 Combi

Featured Replies

Thought I'd start up a thread, as they seem to be all the rage ;)

Picked this up at the end of July, after selling the Yeti. Mrs Wardy was after an auto this time so this seemed to fit the bill. Octy Mk2 was ruled out on 'been there, done that' basis and the Mk3 was found to be a bit too big. I really wish there wasn't the need to make each subsequent revision bigger than the last....

So.... Fabia. I'm not a fan of the Mk2 hatch I'm afraid and would have needed the extra space the Combi offers anyway. So set off looking for a CTHE engined wagon :)

A Nov 2012 MY13 popped up at the local dealer so went down for a look. It fitted the bill, so a deal was done

34k miles, 2 previous owners. Wasn't quite the spec I wanted, but taking into account they're quite rare, the colour was right and it has heated seats which were a requirement and probably one of the more fiddly retrofits!

So this will be a 'refine and improve' project really, sticking with OEM+ principles ;)

Cheers,

Steve

Looking good.

The Fabia vRS was the first DSG equipped car I drove. Then since buying the Octavia DSG I never want to go back to manual again!

Is this your first auto?

Hey Phil - you've reminded me I've got bits in draft to stick on here!

Yep, first auto and first DSG as well. I do like it, most of the time. I still prefer the extra level of interaction and control from a manual though. Suppose ultimately it comes down to what type of driving you're doing.

But that was part of the plan, and one of the reasons why I have the Eunos... with an excellent manual transmission :)

I like your thinking.

Mine is a OEM plus kind of car, nothing too outlandish and a nice daily runner.

Smart combi that

Not once have I missed having a manual... not one single bit!

I feel in more control of the car and actually find it more engaging. You have more options too with D, D-sport or Manual :)

Plus the first time you're stuck in traffic having to creep forward you will be very smug about not having to use a clutch.

At least you still have a manual toy to get your "fix".

The only manual I drive these days is the motor home and the engine is currently knackered so haven't even driven that.

Although I drove my mother in law's Golf 1.6 TDI convertible recently... and promptly stalled it setting off on a hill! lol

It's horses for courses isn't it. I totally get why people like them so much :)

What it does, it does very well. And going up and down with the paddles, in combination with the twincharger is quite addictive at times :D

Look forward to the oem look.
