Skoda Satnav with TV Option

Featured Replies

I've had my Superb with Satnav for a number of months now, and only picked up the manual to have a nosey at it the other day for the first time!

Anyway, it shows the Satnav unit having a TV Tuner option as well, which I was not even aware and was wondering what extra hardware was needed to make this work, or whether I have everything I need and it just needs enabling somehow.

As far as I am aware, its the standard Satnav Headunit fitted to all Skoda's which have the Satnav option.

Anyone got this feature on there Satnav?

cheers

Paul.

I've read about this on here somewhere and I think it's a pretty expensive optional extra that's not that easy to get hold of but I could be wrong.

A Superb Tech will no doubt be along to help soon. I know someone with an Audi S8 and the TV reception on his is woeful and no doubt not disimilar to the Skoda version. In the age of freeview it might be better to find out if there is an AV input you could hook up an external aftermarket mobile freeview receiver into.

As far as im aware the TV tuner hasnt been an option on UK Superbs.

Audi did use the Tuner but as mentioned it was terrible anyhow. Was std fit in the S4 and S6 at one time but was dropped.

The Satnav does have an "aux" input. I had to ask the question, as I was suprised to see it in the back of the manual, and until I saw it, did not know even know it existed.

Is it possible to hook a small DVD player up to the aux setup, and display through the TFT Satnav? If so, has anyone done it on here?

You can get Sky for it too. Clicky

Any of these that i've seen work with the ignition on but the screen cuts out when you move off.

Thats cos it is illegal to be watching a moving picture whilst driving. You'll get audio though and when you come to a standstill, picture will return. Speed signal on CAN supplied to tuner via nav inputs.

There is now a CANBUS cheater available for all VAG group cars/BMW/MERC that will remove the TV off mode.

But as stated this is illegal for the driver to watch TV on the move.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. People crash while reading text messages never mind Eastenders.
