Octavia Mk II DSG prob

Featured Replies

Hi have a 2011 1.6 DSG 7 speed with a transmission problem

switched car on and came up with warning - transmission too hot and wouldnt engage gears

Has been scanned and throws up error code P0562

I realise the code is System Voltage Low - but has anyone come across this before

Transmission fluid was changed about a year ago - partly the recall - but I only found out about it after I had

a loss of the odd gears whilst driving

Any help would be greatly appreciated -

May have made some progress

seems to be a oil temp/sensor problem - but this is on the engine sump

question I have is - would/could  this cause the error on the dash - as soon as I turn the key - comes up on the dash 'tranmission too hot'

only other bit of progress - the gear oil was less than the stipulated 1.7l by about 300ml - could that cause it

any assisstance apreciated

Is it on the original battery? 4-5 years is when they tend to fail.

tried a new battery and same thing

ok

as said above - gearbox oil was changed as part of a recall -

seem to have made some progress - does seem to be a temp sensor prob - however not on -sump - but part of mechatronic unit

(I take it the mechatronic unit is a sealed unit which contains its own lifetime oil)

just need clarification on couple things now

gearbox oil change - what would have been changed - gearbox oil or the mechatronic unit oil?

if the gearbox oil was changed and was some 300ml short of the specified amount would/could this contribute to the temp sensor problem

and does anyone know if skoda have an extended warranty on the dsg - saw on some vw forum that this seemed to a persistent prob

thanks

just a wee update

this is with reference to the 7Speed DSG units built between 2009-2011 - mine is a late 2010 early 2011 - (2010 reg but shows as 2011 when checked - musta been pre regged)

seems like it is a problem with the mechatronic unit

and am gonna have to argue with skoda - dealer quoted over £1200

but from what I have been able to find out this is a prob that skoda(VW) know about

what I would like to ask if possible, is if folk could assist me by letting me know any info that I could use to strengthen my argument, as I think it is

feckin ridiculous that they can get away with this.

here's what I know so far

Car had to be returned to dealer for gear/transmission oil change - have had conflicting stories from dealers about which oil should have been changed - so dont know if this had been carried out correctly (I gather that it shoulda been the oil in the mech unit - from synthetic to mineral)

have a printout from dealer - only says gearbox oil change - asked them for their comments - and said they carried out the Field campaign instructions (34F7) which from what they read off to me from their computer sounded like it was just the gear oil change

Various countries around the world have extended the warranty on the dsg 7 speed - to 10yrs/100,000 miles - would like more info on possible list of countries

New Zealand just recalled them and changed the mech unit - bravo New Zealand

Sorry if this seems like a bit of a rant but am kinda left nonplussed by all of this as surely this must be a safety issue (what if I had been on motorway at 70mph and had this failure)

and who would I be better complaining to - Skoda UK or VW UK

So any further info that anyone has would be greatly preciated

thanks
