I Need Help & Advice Please.

Hi Everyone, Time for an update on my FL Octavia VRS. 2.0 TSi...

Today 22/11/16..........I got my car back from the Specialist & WOW..........WHAT A DIFFERENCE..   I am seriously seriously happy now .

It received, A New Timing Chain, Timing chain Tensioner, timing chain guides, new metal cover/panel, New gaskets etc & Nice fresh G13 coolant.

I Have to say, what a difference, No rattle on start up, silent running once started (it was not noisey, but there is definitely a difference, it is quieter) It is good to have it back  :D . Needs a rear wheel bearing, but it is booked in for that & a wheel bearing is nothing that worries me, just normal wear & tear at 106,000 odd miles..lol

The very good specialist that carried out the work, told me that the timing chain had stretched & that the old tensioner would definitely NOT have lasted very much longer had i not got it replaced when i did.... . Phew...lol

So....to ANYONE with a FL OCTAVIA VRS MK2 2.0 TSi  (CCZA Engine Code) that has a brief half a second/ to a second, metallic rattle upon start up,DO NOT IGNORE IT,, PLEASE GET IT SORTED ASAP,

Mine was very close to slipping the timing chain & lunching it's engine, resulting in BIG BUCKS to replace the engine. So, save yourself the aggro & stress & get is sorted..  Cost is cheaper,  compared to £5000 for a new engine.

Also, to everyone on this forum, for all the advice & Help, a MASSIVE THANK YOU   I will get my car washed, waxed etc, then post up pictures soon.

If anyone has anything they want to know, or ask, feel free to PM me & i will reply as soon as i can.

Also, i wanted to mark the thread as solved, but dont know how to...

Glad your VRS is now all sorted. I also had new chains tensioner etc fitted a few months ago when the car had only 52k miles. It just gives you peace of mind and the cost is not really that much, especially from my local great independent garage. I am sure you will have many a great time driving your VRS in the future, I know I will as I love the car.

Think theres a car repair garage in Daveson Mains in Edinburgh. Took the Vectra there once when the turbo riped its self apart. There not bad. I cant remember the name of the garage but its near the flats on the main road. Think its close to the shops on the 4th road bridge side of D Mains!
