Hi everybody

I've done 2000 km with my new octy 4x4 1.9 tdi, and yes, 6 gear manual gearbox.

Now that I'm a bit experienced, I feel that the car is quite fuel consuming (gazole), around 7-7,5 liters every 100 km (average urban and motorway). I have to say that I was used to a 6 liter consumption, with my old Golf III 1,9 tdi 90-power.

So I'm trying to save fuel, and I'm having better consumptions putting next gear before arriving 2000 revs-per-minute. Then I start accelerating again since 1500 rpm average.

I feel the car has enough torque to accelerate easily since this position, but I'm asking if changing gears this way would be harmful in long term (comparing with changing what I thought normal, when reaching more than 2000 rpm, and starting accelerating from about 1800 rpm).
