Slight hesitation on throttle

Featured Replies

Sorry in advance if this has already been mentioned.

Have a Octavia vRS estate and occasionally feel a slight judder/ hesitant on the throttle only for a split second then fine. Run the car between 2/2.5krpm for a while and returns to normal.

Am I right in thinking this could be the DPF starting to clog up? No light on dash just a bit unsure as first car with a DPF.

Thanks in advance

egr valve will do this

Egr easy enough to remove/clean? Not looked at it myself as yet!

Car runs like I like a dream just @ around 1800 rpm kind of feels like a dip in power.

If you have an older pd170 like me the egr is at the front of the engine its very easy to remove and clean i have fitted the reducer metal gasget which has a smaller hole and is a vag brand fix for a hesitation problem they are on ebay genuine and non genuine, If you have a cr170 i dont know how easy it is to get at the egr i think its at the rear of the engine

Thanks its the older PD170. Will have a look at it later on today. Might give it a clean up first and see how it goes. Probably end up replacing it at some point no doubt.

Thanks

I had a PD170 that done that and was hesitant when trying to take off and got in a few hairy moments when trying to pull out in front of traffic!  Was fine when the turbo kicked in at 2/2.5K RPM.  For me, it was the DPF starting to clog up and was usually confirmed with a lumpy idle and idled at 1,000 rpm, instead of the 750 rpm.  DPF light wasn't on, but had to do an early DPF regeneration, by driving in 3rd gear for while (didn't do much motorway driving), plug remapped accelerated the DPF clogging issue.

As the others say, it could also be the EGR.

I've changed my car to a CR170 and had the DPF gutted and EGR deleted, so don't have that issue now.

Thanks pretty much exactly what is happening with me! No motorways near me at all!! Will take the car a good run this evening to do a DPF regeneration. Will also have a look EGR also don't look to difficult job to do and clean.
