Paint thickness gauge

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a good Guaita piece of kit without breaking the bank? Alternatively does anyone have a used one they'd be willing to sell?

I use the Paint Detective PD8 - very nice bit of kit. :)

Have heard good things about Paint Detective, but have never managed to justify the cost!

Around £200 for theirs now I think? So costs have come down in recent years.

+ 1 for PD8 Paint Detective.

I managed to pick up a used example for sub £100.

Keep an eye on eBay and on Detailing World for used examples coming up for sale.

Nice! Always an eye for a bargain eh Ste? ;)

The PD8 seems to get good reviews and if they're good enough for you guys then that'll do me!

PD8 purchased....unwanted gift on the Bay! Great price too, should have it by midweek. Thanks all for your recommendations.

Good result - a great tool to have if you are serious about detailing.... IMO

It's a fantastic tool is the PD8! You won't be disappointed.

Come to my rescue a few times with customer vehicles when it finds thin spots, or the opposite, serious amounts of spray / filler :D
