Strange detachable tow bar

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Has anyone any experience of this type of fitting. It seems quite rare having googled it.

To start with it would`nt even go into the hole and neither would the handle lock. Got to work with a dremel

to clear all the rust and crud from inside the tow bar, and its almost all of the way in but not quite. It goes in much further

upside down and Im thinking, maybe it then twists 180 degrees upright as there does appear to be a locating lug in there.

Maybe fits in the groove at the towbar end of the ball bar. But it just will not turn or go in any further.

But before I really give it some hammer I thought I would ask here first.

Regards

Andi

Mehehe looks like a spare part for a cuddie!

Only seen similar on ebay at the cheaper end of the detachable tow bar range. No idea how it secures the pin though as the ones on ebay, the lever is fixed to the frame.

It´s a GDW system, one of the strongest detachable towbars

The rusty Insert block is boltable. 4 bolts and you can bring the metal block to a workshop.

Derusting first (maybe ask a workshop with a sandblaster in the neighbourhood) and fat it!

Even minimal rust will cause problems, otherwise take fine sanding paper to clean 100%

Insert Towbar and then secure it with the handle. Put handle into the side hole to secure towbar against pulling out and secure the handle with snapping behind  the safetypin. With fitted towbar you have to leave the handle in locked position.

Sorry for my technical english!
