Just a note, anyone thinking of driving north or south on the A1 this weekend, it's closed.  Between Scotch Corner and Leeming Bar, both carriageways north and south are closed for the weekend due to bridge works. Diversions are in place, but are via back roads or via miles of other main roads which will take you well out of your way and add much time to the journey.

Utter pain in the **** as I can confirm. Just hope it'll be better when it's all done and opened up.
