3 problems I really want to sort

OK so I've owned my octavia 1.9tdi pd105 for around a year now, 3 things have really annoyed me since day1

1. Smoky when in traffic

2. Around 2500rpm in 4th and 5th gear goes to limp home mode

3. Radiator fans start once key is put ingnition

What I think is wrong

1. Turbo oil seals

2. Sticking veins

3. Fan switch faulty

Can anyone confirm or correct me and also provide remedies

tbh I wouldn't worry bout the fan as much. The fan on my work car does the same. The other one doesent till its warmed up.

Ideally you need someone with VCDS. Most garages will do this but they will likely charge a fortune for what little time it actually takes. Check the VCDS map thread on this site - there might be a user near you who can help.

Unrelated (hopefully!) to my faulty light problem, in the past few days I think the tone of my exhaust has changed and it sounds deeper. Whilst I was fiddling around with the lights, I gave the exhaust a push and noticed that it was swinging from side to side. Is it supposed to do this?! If not, what might the problem be?

Hello everyone, I have an older 2009 RNS 510 Columbus head unit. The software on it is very outdated, and I would like to update it to the European Josi Modified 5238 version. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a working download link anywhere. Does anyone happen to have the software and could upload it somewhere? Or perhaps someone knows of a working download link? Thank you very much for any help.

Coolant pump belt change

My 1.8tsi Octavia scout coolant pump was leaking via the impeller. I'd like to change the small belt (not the big timing belt!) that spins the impeller as well as the pump etc but the left handed bolt is stuck. I've not tried too much force as the captive gear it holds moves when I try and I'm concerned that I might break something internally. Would anybody have any experience removing this bolt or known methods of doing so? The photo shows the gear and the bolt I'm refering to is holding this g

Noticed today that my rear view camera is seeing more than it used to, that is, I can now see some of the number plate and body work top and bottom. I'm sure it used to be just a nice clear picture of the rear without anything extra? Am I mistaken, does everyone see the number plate and bodywork?

Hi All, I know this is a topic that seems to have been covered a million times but my vRS has become a problem child. It was losing a small amount of coolant and I would get the odd whisp of steam from the back, I diagnosed a leaking EGR Cooler (confirmed with off car pressure test) and a small water pump leak. I replaced both and thought my work here was done. However it now seems to have made losses worse, this time from the reservoir, so yesterday I did a 90 min motorway drive and by the t
