Help me make a shopping list for my vRS

Featured Replies

After a 2.5 year long absence, I'm returning to the fold.

My last vRS was my pride and joy and I had her for about 5 years before stupidly selling because of a woman (lesson in there for all of us).

After binning my 110 Leon in Italy after a windscreen issue rendered it pointless to repair, I've found another 2002 silver vRS with the same spec as my old one - cruise, parking sensors and sunroof. Couldn't be happier!

It's only done 108k as well! But I'm a hotel manager in the Italian alps and I'll be driving back down there from Cornwall in about 10 days. Need help figuring out what needs doing before I go. It's had the cambelt and water pump at 102k earlier this year. So my list so far is as follows:

Solid flywheel conversion and clutch kit

New uprated battery (always like to have these for the freezing temps down there)

Oil pickup and filter

Coolant temp sender

ARB bushes

front indicators off ebay as they look a little grimey

GB numberplates (I hate the stickers)

Winter tyres (and 4 wheel alignment)

I'm estimating all of that at about £900

Can't afford a rear ARB at the moment, but I seem to remember on my last one adding some TT or R32 bits to the steering which felt nice and were cheap. Any other suggestions?

I have a set of 4 steel 16" wheels already fitted with two matching pairs of winter tyres Continental and Dunlop. Looking for £150 posted within the U.K. They also come with 20 steel wheel bolts too. If interested let me know via PM. vRS came originally with 16" so I know they will fit.

Unless the current setup is giving you jip, Id leave the clutch and flywheel.

Mister auto also do the proper Hella indicators and are very good quality compared to the pattern parts

You can feel the current setup loosing it a bit, so needs doing.

Will look into Mister Auto.

Is there nothing else cheap and obvious?

Could clean the throttle body I guess :)  And get a vent for the drivers side behind the intercooler.  I drilled holes instead
