Effect of fitting bigger injectors on stage 1 vrs

Featured Replies

I'm currently running a remapped VRS, opened up exhaust and CAI fitted by previous owner.

I was wondering what the effect of fitting larger injectors from say a BAM engine would be?

Right now I am just doing some maintenance tasks on the car before increasing the power further, however I'd like to aim for somewhere between 260-280 in the future. I'd most likely be fitting a ko4 (or hybrid), proper TIP, IC etc etc soon as well.

My knowledge of injectors comes from the diesels where you can fit a larger injector (within reason) and it will drive fine, just a bit smokey sometimes.

it should be fine, it will still be metering the correct ammount of fuel right?

Map will need to be tweaked so the ecu knows the size of the injectors.

The end goal is to achieve a certain air to fuel ratio. If the same afr fuel is met then no change in power.

I've read that you need to change the MAF size to match the injector size increase, then the engine can trim the fuel settings a certain amount. Honestly though I am struggling to find much info on this on the internet. I'm aware, ofc, that a remap or modification of the map, will be best after fitting them, but I'm looking to give myself headroom for the future, whilst replacing older parts on the car.

well part of the K04 "kit" is the different MAF from the BAM engined cars, so I think you are right with that one...

BAM injectors will work with VRS MAF, would recommend fitting just before you get the map tweeked, got them on mine so a bit of headroom if i go down the hybrid route.

will love to see how you go Andy....  I will be going hybrid when I get the money :)
